The Caerwent Campaign
The Plume of Quintus Corvus
Quintus Corvus, an officer in the Twentieth Legion, the Valeria Victrix, wore this black horsehair plume on his helmet, when he sailed from the Continent to Britain. The helmet was cloven in two by an Iceni warrior during Boudicca’s rebellion, but the soldier himself remained completely unharmed.
The helm had been mangled unrepairable, but Quintus nonetheless wished to retain a part of his lucky headgear, which had been blessed in the temple of Mars back in Rome. He therefore fixed the plume on his new helmet, which was eventually passed to his oldest son. The black horsehairs – miraculously unravaged by time – have ever since then adorned several different helmets, all worn by the Patriarchs of the Corvii line. Sir Gaius currently possesses it.
The Plume of Quintus Corvus grants +1 to Armor Value when worn on any helmet.
